I liked the little walk behind the school. I liked being with you.
I felt like a kid again. I wanted to hold your hand.
We talked about llamas and sheep, and how they listen better than people.
I ducked under the tree branches and touched the fence.
We were all alone, and no one would have known
if we'd paused a moment, smiled and blushed and touched,
left our fingerprints on the backdoor and on each other,
laughed and cried and held on like we needed it,
like we needed each other just then,
and we had each other, just then.
I don't know if we'll get that chance again.
